FARR Data entry complete

The period for data entry for planned provision in 2015 into the new FARR database closed on 30th March. Thanks to all across LCETB who completed their Data entry in February in advance of the initial deadline for local data entry.

FARR is the new SOLAS web application used to capture quantitative data relating to programmes and courses. It is used as part of the Funding Allocations Request process (estimated data) and also to report with 3 reporting periods each calendar/fiscal year as follow

Reporting Period January to May June to September October to December
Report submitted June October January

Programme and Learner Support System

The Programme and Learner Support System (PLSS) commenced in the second half of 2013. This project builds on the work started by the SOLAS Implementation Group (SIG) in 2012. Its objective is to develop a system consisting of three associated IT infrastructures and business processes required for systematic and timely access to the data within Further Education and Training (FET) provision. The IT infrastructures are the:

* National Programme Database (NPD)

* Course Calendar Scheduling System (CCSS) and;

* Learner Database

The NPD and NCSS are currently in development and will be piloted in Donegal ETB shortly. The Learner Database will be delivered on a phased basis with initial deliverables toward the end of 2015 and the full database being available in 2016.
